Pride and Prejudice Portland Theatre reviews
Almost 5 Stars...Almost
An amazing performance overall, but why not give it 5 stars? The distractions were too many and the set list lacked depth. The beautiful venue, perfect weather, and amazing sounds from the three stages tell me this event deserves 5 stars. The comical, improvisational end to "Violet Hill" set the mood for the night, followed by an energy-producing rendition of "Viva La Vida," a cell-phone wave leading into "Billie Jean," and a beautiful performance of "The Scientist." The band showcased their talents and entertained us by playing on three different stages. It would have been nice to hear a couple of rare tracks from their EP's and Singles w/ B-sides. The distractions, from the MTV-type video on the big screens to the television showing Pride and Prejudice, detracted rather than added to the show. They played mostly "A-sides," and while hits are important, delving deeper into their catalog would have been appreciated.
